BACKALDRIN: Expanding into Russia with a new factory

BACKALDRIN – Austria’s Kornspitz Company is known around the world as the inventors of the Kornspitz bread roll, and their success shows they are on the right track, with an export ratio of some 80%.

Backaldrin is represented by its own subsidiaries in 17 countries round the world, although the company’s headquarters and largest manufacturing facility is located in Asten, Upper Austria. There are also seven other production facilities in Amman (Jordan), Cape Town (South Africa), Kiev (Ukraine), Moscow (Russia), Toluca (Mexico) and Winterthur (Switzerland). The baking ingredient specialist has 870 staff, a turnover of some EUR 170 million and an export ratio of more than 80%.

The company’s newest manufacturing site near Moscow was opened in October 2017 and Russia, with a population of almost 200 million, has become a strategically important sales market for backaldrin, with the new factory already producing bakery ingredients for domestic use and in neighbouring countries. The ARVALUS factory has also been an opportunity for backaldrin to establish a hub for the Eurasian economic area.
