Export Prizes 2020: a spotlight on Austria’s top exporters

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA has been honouring Austrian companies whose international involvement promotes economic development, prosperity and employment with Export Prizes 2020.

The Austrian Export Prizes for 2020 were awarded on 11 February 2021 at an award ceremony that, for the first time, was broadcast virtually; just like every year, however, public attention was once again squarely on Austria’s top exporters. The Export Prizes honour the exceptional involvement and success achieved by Austrian companies on international markets.

The prizes were awarded by Harald Mahrer, the president of the Austrian Economic Chamber, watched by a large audience that had tuned in digitally because of Corona pandemic restrictions.

Last year’s export achievements were judged in six categories.

Achieving a commanding position on global markets, developing an efficient overseas network or playing a pioneering role as an exporter will put a firm in the running for the Global Player Award, while the Expat Award is presented to an individual for services to Austria’s foreign trade.

The Global EcoVision Award goes to Austrian companies whose innovative technologies, products and services have made a lasting contribution to environmental conservation and climate protection.

The Expat Award goes to Josef Ullmer, the President Director of AndritzHydro in Indonesia, who as MD and CEO of AndritzHydro India has already played a decisive role in the company’s success in India and Southern Asia from 2015 to 2019. He is also in charge of AndritzHydro’s business development and growth in Asia, Australia and Oceania. Fronius International GmbH has won the Global EcoVision Award for “24 Hours of Sun”.

Fronius has achieved worldwide success in the welding technology, photovoltaic and battery-charging sectors, and its products, services and more than 1,250 patents have made it a leading innovator on the global market. ‘24 Hours of Sun’ is less a project and more Fronius’ vision for the energy revolution: a world in which 100% of energy requirements are met from renewable sources – everywhere and at all times.
