Energy drink manufacturer Red Bull remains Austria’s most valuable brand corporation by a significant margin. The strongest growth was achieved by Novomatic, Erste Bank Group and Spar.
The European Brand Institute evaluates the country’s most valuable brands every year. The Top 10 in the Austrian brand value study 2017 represented brand value totalling around EUR 32.4 bn (+1.2%).
With a brand value of EUR 15.2 bn (+0.9%), Red Bull remains unchallenged at the top of the latest ranking. In second place by a considerable margin is the Tyrolean crystal producer Swarovski , achieving an 2% rise in value to EUR 3.5 bn. Gaming group Novomatic whose brand is worth EUR 3.2 bn (+8.4%), came third, thereby giving Novomatic the strongest growth of any brand.
Retail giant SPAR successfully claimed fourth place with a brand value of EUR 2.3 bn (+3%), followed by the Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) , the Raiffeisen Bank Group , the Erste Bank Group , the oil and gas company OMV , furniture retailer XXX Lutz and insurance firm Vienna Insurance Group-VIG .
The Austrian brand value study is already in its 14th year. Of the 500 largest companies in Austria measured by revenue, the study examines the brands which are at least 45% Austrian-owned. In the end more than 160 Austrian brands in 16 sectors were analysed.
