SKIDATA South Africa (Q1 – Q3) 2024

SKIDATA South Africa is in the midst of another successful year in the Parking & Smart Mobility and Sports & Entertainment Sectors, both in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, especially in the specific segment of Airports.

Following on from a successful 2023, we carried on this momentum into 2024 where we were able to obtain many New Facility orders, non-more so than three Orders for Airports in South Africa, Botswana and Mauritius.

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA):

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport is located 27 kilometres (17 miles) north east of Mbombela in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Construction began in 2001, and it replaced the smaller Nelspruit Airport.
It now serves travellers to Kruger National Park.
The airport terminal is roofed almost entirely by thatch, making it the largest thatched structure in Africa, covering approximately 7,350 square metres (79,100 sq. ft).

SKIDATA SA were approached by the airport management team to look at replacing the existing system that had been supplied and maintained by a competitor. SKIDATA SA won the order to equip the car park with a new Pay on Foot Parking Technology solution consisting of 2 x Entry Lanes, 2 x Exit Lanes, 1 x Automatic Payment Machine and Combined Server & Manual Cashier, plus Mobile Pay where parkers can pay with their Mobile Phone.

Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (SSKIA):

Sir Seretse Khama International Airport located 15 kilometres (9 miles) north of downtown Gaborone, is the main international airport of the capital city of Botswana. The airport is named after Sir Seretse Khama, the first president of Botswana. It was opened in 1984 to handle regional and international traffic.
It has the largest passenger movement in the country. In 2017 the airport got its first special economic zone which would house the departments of: CAAB, Botswana Innovation Hub, ITPA and diamond hub for diamond sector.

SKIDATA SA supported our Partner in Botswana, PHIXINE in submitting a tender to replace the exisitng old system.
PHIXINE were awarded the tender and placed the order on SKIDATA SA for a new Pay on Foot Parking Technology Solution consisting of 2 x Entry Lanes, 2 x Exit Lanes, 2 x Nested Tenant Areas 2 x Automatic Payment Machines, Manual Cashier and Server, plus Mobile Pay where parkers can pay cashless with their Mobile Phone.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (SSRIA):

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (French: Aéroport International Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam) is the primary international airport serving the island nation of Mauritius. It is located at Plaine Magnien, 48 km (30 miles) southeast of the capital city of Port Louis. The airport was previously known as the Plaisance Airport.
It has direct flights to several destinations in Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe, and is home to the country’s national airline, Air Mauritius. Airports of Mauritius Co. Ltd (AML) is the owner and operator of the airport, and the Government of Mauritius is the major shareholder of AML.
It is named after Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the first Prime Minister of Mauritius.

SKIDATA SA worked with our partners, IT VdTech based in Eben Mauritius in obtaining the award for this major airport in Mauritius, after a very drawn-out and challenging process, where we had to send our License Plate Recognition (LPR) Camera with a technician to Mauritius to test and prove that our cameras would operate functionally in the environment. The order for a new SKIDATA Pay on Foot Ticketless Solution which will be delivered in Phases, where Phase I will comprise of 4 x Entry Lanes and 6 x Exit Lanes, all equipped with Goosenecks with SIP Intercoms, plus License Plate Recognition (LPR) Cameras and Barriers, plus a Nested Tenant Area of 1 x In,
1 x Out, 4 x Skiosk Multi-Payment Automatic Payment Machines for Cash & Cashless Payment and 1 x Skiosk Lite Automatic Payment Machine for Cashless Payment Only, with a Bay Detection System and Variable Message System (VMS), plus full sweb Suite. Phase II will comprise of a further 4 x Entry Lanes and 4 x Exit Lanes, all equipped with Goosenecks with SIP Intercoms, plus License Plate Recognition (LPR) Cameras and Barriers, with a Bay Detection System and Variable Message System (VMS), plus full sweb Suite.
