Guest Article: Masibambane College’s Founders’ Day a celebration of legends

The 28th of May, saw us celebrating 26 years of care and excellence at Masibambane College, in Orange Farm, founded by Education Africa and partnered with St. John’s College. Masibambane College’s humble beginnings can be traced back to The City of Vienna’s investment which spearheaded the building of the College’s Primary School in 1996. This year, we were fortunate to have Oliver Grünbacher, Deputy Head of Mission of the Austrian Embassy, and Oliver Lichtenegger, Deputy Head of Advantage Austria join us in celebrating our second Founders’ Day, and continue to foster The City of Vienna and Austria’s incredible decades-long relationship with the school.

This year’s Founders’ Day focused on the official re-naming of the school houses – now known as Sisulu House, Klaaste House and Suzman House after the South African legends who played an integral part in supporting Masibambane College’s journey. Education Africa’s CEO and Founder, James Urdang was also honoured for his role in creating and fostering the partnerships that helped establish the school. A special thank you to the Sisulu family, Suzman family and Klaaste family for joining the school on this very special day and allowing Masibambane College to honour their family name.
