On Wednesday, 15th July 2026 the Austrian Business Chamber (ABC) had the privilege of participating in a most interesting breakfast workshop, organised by SwissCham, funded by EU and hosted by GGA and Enhancing Accountability.
The high-profile event was held at the Skye Hotel in Sandton. It brought together members of the Austrian, Belgian, British, French, Swiss, Canadian and American Chambers for an engaging and thought-provoking morning.
The keynote speaker was world-renowned Dr. Max Burger-Scheidlin, Executive Director of the International Chamber of Commerce Austria. Dr. Burger-Scheidlin is a world renowned governance and compliance specialist
The discussion focused on several important topics, including:
- Integrity as a driver of competitiveness
- Procurement integrity and corruption risk mitigation
- Governance lessons from South Africa’s experience
The morning also featured insightful panel discussions with a number of high-profile guests, including Karam Singh (GGA), Wayne Duvenage (OUTA), Bernard Agulhas (UFS) and Justice Raymond Zondo.
It was a valuable opportunity to engage with fellow bilateral Chambers, exchange perspectives and gain further insight into the important role that integrity, good governance and ethical business practices play in strengthening competitiveness and building trust.
