Guest Article: GreenTech partners with RUPURGING as it launches local liquid purging compound

RU PURGING AT PLASTICS is set to transform the African packaging industry by launching its locally manufactured liquid purging compound. Rigorously tested, this innovation addresses a crucial aspect of the production process: machine cleaning.

For this reason, RU Purge is partnering with Greentech Plastics Machinery as an agent in Southern Africa. “We believe firmly that RU Purge will assist our customers with better uptime and better colour change-over times, leading to more efficient production output ‘says JC Jonker , head of sales, Greentech Plastics Machinery.

Managing Director Ursula Webber explains that RU PURGING’s Liquid Purge was developed to offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for plastic processors. ‘Companies deal with black spots, streaks, burnt material and inefficient colour or material changes daily. Our Liquid Purge compound can eliminate up to 90% of these costs while reducing scrap and improving turnaround times.’

The compound’s benefits extend to various sectors, including packaging, medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, automotive, electrical and household appliances. ‘Customers using our solution consistently experience less machine downtime, making their production processes more efficient,’ Ursula adds. RU PURGING’s Liquid Purge is a specially formulated cleaning compound designed for thermoplastic processing equipment, including screws, barrels, nozzles, hot runners and extrusion heads. It effectively removes burnt material, colour residues and black specks without damaging machine components.

Suitable for all thermoplastics – including PET, PVC, EVA, POM, HDPE, LDPE, PP and polyolefins – the compound works via a chemical reaction rather than abrasives, preserving equipment longevity and simplifying future cleanings.

Producing RU PURGING locally brings significant cost advantages. ‘Importing finished goods is expensive. By sourcing raw materials and manufacturing in South Africa, we reduce costs and make the product more accessible to our partners and customers,’ Ursula explains. This not only enhances affordability, but it also supports local suppliers and the broader African economy.

‘We’ve committed to using local packaging and raw material suppliers to strengthen the supply chain within Africa. Keeping production local benefits everyone, from manufacturers to end-users,’ she notes.
