Making a difference! –
We are delighted to share that, for Nelson Mandela Day 2021, InterGest South Africa and WerthSchroeder Inc. have donated ZAR 10.000 to the Safe House project, a privately run orphanage in Johannesburg that takes in children who have been abandoned by their families because they are unable to care for them.
What is special about the Safe House is that children with and without disabilities grow up together in a protected environment, most of whom came from townships and have experienced mental or physical violence.
The Safe House has created support funds to ensure and guide the final steps to a self-dependant life beyond the orphanage for their young adults. This means that the young adults will be able to count on their Safe House community when they move into an affordable and safe residential community and until they complete their current training or studies.
This project is very close to our hearts – earlier this year InterGest South Africa hired a young woman who as an orphan benefited from the Safe House immensely and is now an integral part of our accounting team.
We would like to give a special thank you to Michaela Lederer, Martina Reiser and the betterplace organisation for organising this and making projects like this possible!
