The Board of Directors extends a warm welcome to our new Director Philip Voigts
Good Day to you all.
As a school teacher hailing from Kwa Zulu Natal turning to business and more precisely corporate training I moved to Johannesburg a few years back.
In 2016 my KZN roots would became quite important business wise as I was asked by a BBBEE compliance group if I could Recruit, Train and provide work placement to a group of unemployed people on behalf of a sponsor
This is where the current form of HCI Skills Training [Human Capital Investments] was born. Being the owner of a Retreat centre in deep Rural Northern KZN I had the ideal setting to start such a project. The unemployment rate in the area sits at 80% with most people living off either grants or a family member working in the cities such as Johannesburg and sending money back to their families
The very first group of learners did a learnership in business Practices which meant learning the basics of what a business is and thus what it means to work in a business. These learners worked at a number of local businesses with some of those learners whom we found work placement for still working at those business’s now in 2021
Since those early beginnings we have been blessed to work with over 1600 learners in varying areas across the country and in various fields ranging from IT, Transport, Production Technology, Business, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Environmental Management and Community Health Care to name a few. Even though many of these are now taking place in our major centres we at HCI will always have our hearts set on rural development
As I write this we have been given the chance to provide a wonderful opportunity to another 75 young people in rural KZN. There will be some hard work and running about for my team and myself in the coming weeks so that another 75 people receive an education, workplace experience as well as an income for the next 12 months. what could be better than that!
Wishing you all a prosperous month ahead and I look forward to working with the Board of the ABC .
