Michael Otter is the new CEO of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA helps Austrian companies internationalise and innovate all over the world.

Michael Otter has taken over as the new CEO of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA with effect from 1 September 2017. He follows Walter Koren, who led the Federal Economic Chamber’s foreign commercial service for 15 years and will now become Austria’s Trade Commissioner in Los Angeles.

“The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber’s foreign commercial service is the ‘extended arm’ of Austrian business abroad,” says Otter. “Our services help companies take those first steps beyond the border – searching for business partners, delivering projects and even dealing with legal problems. I have been involved in helping Austrian companies and providing support for their foreign business for 20 years, and taking over the general management of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA is a challenge I relish.”

After graduating from Vienna University of Economics and Business with a Masters in International Business Administration, Michael Otter’s commercial career began at management consultancy HSO Business System in Holland before he joined ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA in 1998. After postings as Austrian Trade Commissioner in Abu Dhabi, New York, Seoul and Tokyo, he went on to build up the new “innovation agency” of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA as its deputy director general.

With a global network of approximately 110 offices in more than 70 countries, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA provides a comprehensive range of services for Austrian companies and their international business partners, with some 800 employees helping firms and stakeholders to find the right suppliers and business contacts from Austria.
